Protecting Himachal's Wildlife & Natural Heritage

Managing Biodiversity Across Kufri Zoo, Chail Sanctuary, Shimla Water Catchment & Protected Forests.

Who We Are

Himachal Pradesh Forest Department Wildlife Wing

Shimla Wildlife Division operates under the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department Wildlife Wing and is committed to the conservation, protection, and sustainable management of wildlife and forest ecosystems across the different Protected Areas ranging from pene plains of Paonta Sahib to high mountains of Churdhar

The division plays a vital role in safeguarding biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance, and ensuring the long-term preservation of natural habitats. Through dedicated efforts in wildlife protection, habitat restoration, and eco-tourism management, we strive to create a harmonious relationship between nature and the community.

Our responsibility extends across key regions including Kufri Zoo, Chail Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary, where we actively monitor wildlife, prevent illegal activities, and promote environmental awareness purely based on eco-tourism principles among visitors and locals alike.
